The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says<a class=\" vilynx_listened\" href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/health\/health-news\/cdc-says-127-suspected-confirmed-cases-polio-condition-n920676\">\u00a0it\u2019s investigating 127 reported cases<\/a>, 62 of them confirmed to be AFM in 22 states.\u00a0\u201cWe have not been able to find the cause of the majority of AFM cases,\u201d the CDC\u2019s Dr. Nancy Messonnier told reporters on Thursday.\u00a0\u201cDespite extensive laboratory testing, we have not determined what pathogen or immune response caused the arm or leg weakness and paralysis in most patients,\u201d Messonnier added.\u00a0\u201cWe don\u2019t know who may be at higher risk for developing AFM or the reasons why they may be at higher risk.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/medicalxpress.com\/news\/2018-10-link-chronic-inflammation-alzheimer-disease.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft \" src=\"http:\/\/www.robertscottbell.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/08\/Alzheimers_text_6401.jpg\" width=\"247\" height=\"139\" \/>Link found between chronic inflammation and risk for Alzheimer\u2019s disease<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; While it is widely shown that\u00a0possessing the ApoE4 gene is the major genetic risk factor of Alzheimer\u2019s disease (AD), not all ApoE4 carriers develop AD. For the first time, researchers at Boston University School of Medicine (BUSM) have shown that ApoE4 linked with chronic inflammation dramatically increases the risk for AD. This can be detected by sequential measurements of C-reactive protein, a common clinical test which can be could be done routinely in a clinical setting.\u00a0\u201cFinding out what mediating factors for ApoE4 increase AD risk is important for developing intervention and prevention of the disease,\u201d explained corresponding author Wendy Qiu, MD, Ph.D., associate professor of psychiatry and pharmacology &amp; experimental therapeutics at BUSM. \u201cSince many elders have chronic low-grade inflammation after suffering from common diseases like cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, pneumonia and\u00a0<a class=\"textTag\" href=\"https:\/\/medicalxpress.com\/tags\/urinary+tract+infection\/\" rel=\"tag\">urinary tract infection<\/a>, or after having surgeries, rigorously treating chronic systemic inflammation in ApoE4 carriers could be effective for prevention of Alzheimer\u2019s dementia.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/healthimpactnews.com\/2018\/study-youngest-children-in-classrooms-frequently-mislabeled-as-adhd-drugged\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright \" src=\"http:\/\/www.robertscottbell.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/young-students-teacher-classroom-768x497.jpg\" width=\"289\" height=\"187\" \/>Study: Youngest Children in Classrooms Frequently Mislabeled as ADHD<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; A recent study made some international mainstream papers recently that warned of medicating children misdiagnosed as ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder), simply because they were the youngest students in their class.\u00a0UK\u2019s online\u00a0<i>Daily Mail<\/i>\u00a0included a quote from the lead author of that study,\u00a0Dr. Martin Whitely, who stated: \u201cIt appears that across the globe some teachers are mistaking the immaturity of the youngest children in their class for ADHD. Although teachers don\u2019t diagnose it, they are often the first to suggest a child may have ADHD.\u201d\u00a0The study\u00a0was published by the\u00a0<i>Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry, and Allied Disciplines\u00a0<\/i>on October 14, 2018, with the title:\u00a0<i>Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder late birthdate effect common in both high and low prescribing international jurisdictions: systematic review.\u00a0<\/i>The \u201clate birthdate\u201d label describes situations where a child\u2019s birthday falls on a later date of the year than most of his or her classmates\u2019 birthdays.
